According to the 2010 amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW-1978), students in the Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering program are required to complete a total of 12 months of onboard internship. This consists of:
First Sea Internship: 6 months (during the fall semester of the second year)
Second Sea Internship: 6 months (during the spring semester of the third year)
Students must complete their internships on ships approved by the Faculty of Maritime Studies Internship Commission. Detailed guidelines and requirements for the First and Second Sea Internships are outlined in the Piri Reis University Faculty of Maritime Studies Internship Regulations.
